There are currently 108 registered sex offenders living in Williamson County. At this time, each registered sex offender must contact his or her local Law Enforcement Agency to maintain their registration.
Williamson County is a proven leader in Illinois when it comes to maintaining sex offender registrations. While local agencies are required by state law to check on each sex offender registered in their jurisdiction a minimum of once a year, Sheriff Bennie Vick has taken this one step further. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office checks each registered sex offender at least twice a year, and in some cases as many as four times a year.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is currently in the process of implementing additional measures to track registered sex offenders. This system is called Offender Watch. Once this system is on-line it will allow the public to receive e-mail alerts in reference to sex offenders in their area.
Current registered sex offender information may be found at the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registration Information website at www.isp.state.il.us/sor/.
